The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jen Shah recently opened up about her time in prison with fellow inmate Ghislaine Maxwell. She described troubling details about the time spent with her, saying that the convicted trafficker showed “no remorse” for her victims.
Jen Shah, 52, said she kept her distance from Maxwell while they were held together at a federal prison camp in Bryan, Texas. She said she had “limited” interaction with her and “chose” to keep her distance from Ghislaine Maxwell.
Shah explained the reason behind her decision, citing Ghislaine Maxwell’s attitude toward her victims. “I just feel like there should be a level of remorse for the victims,” she said. “And she made it very publicly known—at least to Elizabeth and me—that there’s no remorse there. She outrightly said it.”

The 64-year-old was convicted in December 2021 of recruiting and grooming underage girls for the late abuser Jeffrey Epstein. According to Shah, her behavior in prison raised concerns about her lack of accountability.
“When the victims would be on TV, she was in complete disregard of them,” she shared. “And this is when they are pouring their hearts out in front of Congress for those files to be released.”
Shah, who was sentenced for a telemarketing fraud scheme, was also arrested in 2021. She shared that instead of bonding with Ghislaine Maxwell, she developed a bond with fellow inmate Elizabeth Holmes. She stated that “Lizzie and I are good friends.” “As another high-profile prisoner, there are just certain things you’re both dealing with, so you naturally come together in those instances,” she told People.
Reportedly, Holmes also avoided Maxwell because of her attitude toward others, and they were disturbed by the things they heard.
Shah was released from prison in December 2025 and is now serving the remainder of her sentence under home confinement and has publicly apologized to her victims.
On the other hand, she said that Maxwell’s conduct left her in shock. “To be so dismissive of that? That just didn’t sit with me the right way,” Shah added. She also claimed that the convicted sex offender received special treatment in prison.

“Oh no, she was treated very well there. She was afforded things that nobody else was afforded, like private workout sessions, special meals, bottled water,” Shah said. Additionally, the reality TV star admitted that everybody witnessed it, and she can confirm it since she worked in recreation. “I was also asked for certain equipment because she was going to go work out late at night,” she added.
She further claimed Ghislaine Maxwell bypassed all standard procedures required. “There’s a process you have to go through to schedule your legal calls. She would not have to go through the same process,” Shah mentioned.
In response to Shah’s statements, a Bureau of Prisons spokesperson said the agency had strict rules, claiming that allegations of misconduct are taken seriously.
