White House has shared a bizarre video of Pete Hegseth and Operation Epic Fury. The official X (formerly Twitter) account for the White House shared a short clip on April 1, explaining the Trump administration’s objectives for the Iran war. However, instead of just simply explaining it, White House referred to The Office.
The clip featured Michael Scott, one of the most popular characters from the comedy sitcom. Scott asks, “Why don’t you explain this to me like I am an eight-year-old?” That’s where Pete Hegseth comes in. The Defense Secretary explains, “Operation Epic Fury is not an endless war, it’s a decisive campaign with clear objectives to destroy Iran’s military, offensive military capabilities and ensure they never obtain a nuclear weapon.”

Michael Scott, played by Steve Carell, appears again in the video, and this time he asks, “Why don’t you explain this to me, like I’m five?” Hegseth resumes, “No news, complete dismantling of their missile program and defense.” Scott briefly appears again to deliver one of his popular expressions.
The Defense Secretary adds, “This is success, pure American success. Unplanned and, as the President said, ‘ahead of pace.'” The video ends with the theme music from The Office. Since it was posted, the video has already gained over 390,000 views. However, only a handful of people actually paid attention to the meme-style edit; people were busy discussing what Hegseth said.
“Clear objectives in war always sound clean…reality never is. Is this strategy for security…or escalation with unpredictable consequences,” asked one user in the comment section of the White House post. Another mocked, “When your objectives are opaque or change as frequently as Trump’s diapers, it’s easy to declare success.”
A third added, “Clear objectives are one thing, long-term consequences are another. Time will tell how successful this really is.”

The X post came a few hours before Donald Trump addressed the nation on Operation Epic Fury. “Tonight Iran’s navy is gone, their air force is in ruins, their leaders, most of them…are now dead,” said the President.
According to an analyst, his 19-minute speech made Americans “more confused” about the war.
During the address, the POTUS claimed that the war is “a true investment” for the future of America, as eliminating Iran’s nuclear threat would mean a “safer, stronger, more prosperous” U.S.
Melissa Toufanian, a former senior advisor to former Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, noted, “I don’t think there’s a single American who was watching that speech today who is going to feel like there is a clear plan, like there is a clear timeline, that we are safer and more secure.”
