Sean Diddy Combs is now awaiting a shortened prison release date in an unexpected turn of events. As per the official website of the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the new date has been moved up to April 15, 2028, from April 25, 2028. His first prison release was set for June 4, 2028, according to a New York judge.

The changes to the dates have been happening since December 2025, while it shifted from May to June 2028. The latest reduction includes a 10-day shortening. The repeated changes have drawn criticism online, though specific sources of criticism were not identified.

In fact, it has invited much gossip since the 56-year-old has filed for an appeal, whose hearing is still pending.

For the unversed, Sean “Diddy” Combs is serving a 50-month-long sentence after being convicted of two counts of transportation for prostitution. The verdict followed a high-profile federal trial. However, he was acquitted of some more serious charges during the investigation. These included racketeering conspiracy and se* trafficking, which could have made him susceptible to a life sentence.

In defense, Combs’ legal team filed an 84-page-long appeal back on March 13. They underlined his 50-month-long sentence as a perversion of justice. They demanded an immediate release or resentencing by the court. Sean’s attorneys argued that the judge had acted as a thirteenth juror and ended up relying on conduct related to charges on which he had been acquitted. They found it an excessively harsh sentence.

Regarding claims of Diddy’s se**** abuse allegations, the defense attorneys have alleged that these encounters were thoroughly consensual. Defense attorneys argued the encounters were protected under the First Amendment.

Since Combs was convicted on two lesser counts of the Mann Act, the defense argued that the act was misapplied on purpose.

Fast forward to now, Sean ‘P Diddy’ Combs is imprisoned at the FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey. The federal prison is located within a military base outside of Philadelphia. This was the facility where Combs’ legal team requested him to be installed, considering his proximity to his family as well as several rehabilitation centers.

Since the artist is already enrolled in a dr*g-abuse rehab program, a federal inmate may receive sentence reductions through good conduct credits, according to the Bureau of Prisons. Meanwhile, Diddy’s attorneys have continually termed his prison sentence as excessive. Whereas the prosecutors have only urged the court to keep it in place.

Back on February 20, the prosecutors argued at the court and termed Sean as a repeat offender known for his use of threats and violence. In their filing, the prosecutors wrote in court filings that Combs abused victims, including allegations of violence, threats, and dr*g use.

More explicitly, during the eight-week-long trial, fellow singer Cassie Ventura and another woman jointly testified against Diddy. They informed the jurors that Combs had truly arranged se***** encounters with him under the influence of dr*gs.

He allegedly referred to these instances as ‘freak-offs’, which also incorporated other paid male escorts. Prosecutors alleged the women were subjected to coercive control.
