Tucker Carlson, once a hard-core Donald Trump loyalist, has alleged that the CIA is “preparing some kind of criminal referral” against him. Rick Wilson, a vocal critic of the president, and former GOP strategist Molly Jong-Fast analyzed Carlson’s allegations. The pair noted that even right-wing supporters could be subjected to Trump’s retribution campaign if they spoke out against him.
On his Tucker Carlson show, the former Fox News host alleged, “So the other day, I found out that the CIA is preparing some kind of criminal referral against me, a crime report to the Department of Justice, on the basis of a supposed crime I committed.”
He claimed that his “crime” was “talking to people in Iran before the war.” Carlson said in a video posted Sunday, “They [the CIA] read my texts.” He revealed that he is being set up to be charged under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (1938).

On Sunday, Jong-Fast, who analyzed Carlson’s allegations, noted in her Fast Politics video, “There are so many issues here. There’s the possibility that Tucker is acting as a foreign agent. But then, there’s the other possibility that they’re going after media figures they don’t like, which we saw with (former CNN host) Don Lemon.”
Carlson has been a big supporter of Trump. However, he has strongly spoken out against his war on Iran, as he believes the president is straying from his “America First” agenda.
On Sunday, Rick Wilson, a Never-Trump supporter, agreed with Jong-Fast’s comments. He said, “I think there’s a massive overlap between left and right people that Trump is going after — or has directed his people to go after. And I don’t think it’s happening in equal intensity and sequence for all of them…. They’re going to go after people they don’t like.”
The conservative commentator continued, “You saw (Federal Communications Commission Chairman) Brendan Carr, over the weekend, saying: ‘Oh, well, we’re going to go after networks that don’t cover the war like we want them to cover it.’ Well, that ain’t how this s— works, boss. But here we are.”
Tucker Carlson last week: “I flew to DC three times to convince Trump not to attack Iran.”
Carlson now: Trump doesn’t have the agency to decide. “Other forces were forcing him in that direction.”

However, Wilson was also critical of Carlson. Further reflecting on the accusation of him being a foreign agent, the Never Trump conservative noted that Tucker is a “huge fan of” Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. He noted that the former Fox News host has a past of supporting “vile” leaders in Eastern Europe.
Meanwhile, in his video, Carlson insisted, “I’m not an agent of a foreign power. Unlike a lot of people commenting on US politics and global affairs, I have only one loyalty, and that’s the United States and I have never acted against it.”
“I have also never taken money from anybody. Don’t need it. Don’t want it, and that’s provable,“ he said.
