American President Donald Trump is quite worried about how the Republicans will perform in the midterm elections and he has already come up with a plan to ensure that they win. He is now urging Republicans to seize control of elections and place voting under federal authority, which is a clear sign that shows how he would go to any length to remain in power.
Appearing on the podcast The Dan Bongino Show, hosted by former FBI deputy director, Trump claimed that Republicans should “nationalize” elections around the country and they should do so by taking over the entire voting system, including how ballots are cast and counted.
Trump said, “The Republicans should say, we want to take over. We should take over the voting, the voting in at least many, 15 places. The Republicans ought to nationalize the voting.”
Then, without evidence, he repeated his longstanding claim, saying, people were “brought to our country to vote, and they vote illegally.” Trump has been consistent on this claim since Joe Biden won the 2020 elections, though there has never been any proven evidence to suggest that the U.S. President is making the right assumptions about votes being rigged.

It should be noted here that Trump made these comments less than a week after an FBI raid occurred on an election office outside Atlanta, that seized the voting records from the 2020 Georgia election.
Derrick Johnson, NAACP President and CEO criticized the action, saying, “Despite Trump’s lies about voter fraud in Georgia, judges across the country and even his own attorney general found no evidence. So now he sends in his goons to raid election offices? This is what a weak, sore loser does.”
Marvin Arrington Jr., Fulton County Commissioner, also spoke about the raid, saying, “I’ve asked the county attorney to take any and all steps available to fight this criminal search warrant. The search warrant, I believe, is not proper, but I think that there are ways that we can limit it. We want to ask for forensic accounting, we want the documents to stay in the State of Georgia under seal, and we want to do whatever we can to protect voter information.”
Previously, Attorney General Pam Bondi had demanded that Minnesota hand over its voter roll in exchange for federal assistance regarding the matter of ICE as tension between the agents and the local residents and law enforcement continues to escalate. Two civilians have been killed by ICE in Minnesota and despite the administration claiming that they were “domestic terrorists” and posed threat to the agents, video evidence shows a completely different story.

Both Trump and his Attorney General’s demands regarding the elections have naturally led to widespread outrage among voting rights activists and local lawmakers. Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer criticized Trump, saying, “Does Donald Trump want a copy of the Constitution? What he’s saying is outlandishly illegal. Once again, the president is talking no differently than a dictator who wants elections in America to be as legitimate as elections in countries like Venezuela.”
However, Trump seems to remain unfazed by the criticism and continues his claims of the 2020 elections being rigged, which he uses as his reason to justify his demands of nationalizing the upcoming elections. Moreover, with his approval ratings sinking badly, Trump appears to be quite desperate to keep the Republicans in power, even if it means by crushing the rules of democracy.
