The vague and unconfirmed reports about Joni Mitchell’s health continue, with the latest — from an anonymous friend — suggesting the singer had a brain aneurysm in March, when she was found unconscious.
Speculation has run rampant about Mitchell’s health since she fell ill, with few details emerging from the people close to her. According to this latest report, from Showbiz 411, Joni, 71, did not suffer a stroke, and to this day continues to recover.
The friend also revealed that she is not unconscious and is able to communicate, but speech isn’t coming easy for her just yet. Reportedly, the woman currently caring for her, long-time friend Leslie Morris, is working to get her medical treatment at home, though Morris herself has not responded to email inquiries about her condition.
According to Billboard , she hasn’t yet returned home and may soon be transferred to a rehabilitation facility . Sources have indicated that Mitchell’s condition is “very serious.”
As Inquisitr previously reported, Joni was found unresponsive on March 31 in her Los Angeles residence. In the weeks following, the singer was admitted to the hospital, after which sources reported that she was improving.
Speculation to the contrary began when Leslie sought sole conservatorship over Mitchell, which people thought mean she was in a coma. These rumors were quickly refuted. The document simply gave her friend the ability to make decisions for her when she leaves the hospital.
She was granted conservatorship. Though in court proceedings, Leslie’s lawyer said Joni would be leaving the hospital soon , no details were given about her health in court.
But it’s no surprise that the details surrounding her illness have been scant.
A couple days ago, an animated version of a 1986 interview with the singer emerged, in which she reveals that she wanted to live a normal life despite her fame, Slate added. She even resorted to fake names and wigs to keep her privacy.
