FBI director Kash Patel was recently asked if TPUSA (Turning Point USA) was involved in the assassination of conservative leader Charlie Kirk. The 45-year-old director responded to the claim in a single word: “zero.” Patel has been under the spotlight since the attack, as the outcome of the case is directly linked to the FBI and its credibility in handling the case.
“We’re not done yet,” Patel added as America still mourns his loss. Charlie Kirk was shot and killed at Utah Valley University in Orem on September 10, 2025. He co-founded Turning Point USA in 2012 at 18 and was its executive director. According to officials, a single sniper bullet hit him in the neck.
He was found with a gunshot wound to the neck and pronounced dead about 90 minutes later. According to AP News, DNA found on a towel wrapped around a rifle located near the scene of conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s assassination matches the genetic profile of the 22-year-old suspect.

Kash Patel also stated on Fox News‘ “Fox & Friends” that investigators linked the suspect, Tyler Robinson, to a screwdriver recovered from the rooftop where the fatal shot was fired, based on DNA evidence.
Kirk held conservative views about abortion rights, childbirth, marriage, and safety. Many people slammed his extreme views and often lashed out on social media. Utah officials are expected to file capital murder charges against Robinson, who, as per Kash Patel, left a note saying that he had the intent to kill Charlie Kirk.

Turning Point USA promotes conservative Christian values at high school and college campuses. As of September 18, 2025, Charlie Kirk’s wife, Erika, was named as the CEO of TPUSA, who vowed to make the organization “the biggest the nation has ever seen.”
Charlie Kirk was shot while answering a question at Utah Valley University during a TPUSA event. While Kirk was at the event, he did not have enough security with him, as the father of two preferred being physically closer to the students during his campus appearances.
The TPUSA event had already been controversial. A petition with nearly 1,000 signatures had urged university officials to cancel Kirk’s appearance. Still, the university defended its decision to allow the speech, citing reasons from the Constitution and “free speech and intellectual inquiry.”

In the aftermath of his death, several questions about why there was minimal security at such a significant event were raised, especially since Kirk was a controversial figure in American politics. Kash Patel and his FBI team have been under immense scrutiny after his death to investigate the case and provide legitimate details about it to his supporters.
Memorials were held across the country, and a giant American flag was displayed above the spot where the leader was shot as everyone attempted to bring out the truth behind his death.
