Megyn Kelly is on the next level of pro-Trump loyalty and made a controversial statement over the recent Venezuelan boat strikes. For the unfamiliar, it is reported that Pete Hegseth gave the orders for the attacks, which were solely aimed at killing every last survivor. With the intentions of the department under a huge question mark, the shocking remarks by the conservative commentator on television have earned her immense backlash.
For the uninitiated, the massacre began on September 2, leaving hundreds killed with only two survivors who were hanging onto a burning vessel. New reports suggest that a second strike was ordered intentionally to complete the mission of leaving absolutely no survivors. The Washington Post reported that Hegseth’s direct orders to the commanders were to ‘kill everybody’.
It seems Megyn Kelly had absolutely no second thoughts about the legality of the attacks hanging in the balance. She simply went on the record to proclaim her support for the incident, which was totally violent.
Megyn Kelly is now fantasizing about blowing off limbs and letting people “bleed out” in Trump’s Venezuela boat strikes. @Timodc and @amandacarpenter unpack the dangers of turning cruelty into a political brand in today’s Bulwark Podcast. https://t.co/21bqYteOu0 pic.twitter.com/9hhvpbRDZs

She expressed her desire to see every single one of them suffer and finally even be killed. Her opinion made it evident that Megyn was happy to celebrate the deaths of the Caribbean people. The Trump administration claimed that the attacks were necessary to stop drug trafficking seeping into the United States of America. But it must be noted that the government did not really receive any substantial evidence that these boats were actually hiding contraband and that the people killed were drug traffickers.
Kelly said, “I really do kind of, not only wanna see them killed in the water, whether they’re on the boat or in the water, but I’d really like to see them suffer. I would like Trump and Hegseth to make it last a long time so they lose a limb and bleed out.” The journalist continued with her unsympathetic remarks on the initial two survivors and claimed, “I’m really having a difficult time ginning up sympathy for these guys who, 10 seconds earlier, almost got taken out by the initial bomb, but because they managed to get ejected a little too soon, had to be taken out in the water.”

Despite Kelly’s violent remarks, it is still worth noting that the second attack on the Venezuelan boats has drawn intense criticism even from international law experts. Hegseth’s orders have been debated by members of Congress, who believe that the second attempt could also be constituted as a war crime. The strike is now deemed to be a case of questionable use of armed force against alleged drug cartels by Donald Trump’s cabinet.
Former state department lawyer Brian Finucane echoed similar sentiments on the matter and said, “The term for a premeditated killing outside of armed conflict is murder. Murder on the high seas is a crime. Conspiracy to murder outside of the United States is a crime. And under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, Article 118 makes murder an offence.”
Another U.S. Air Force lawyer further explained that it was wrongful to launch an attack on someone who has no longer been shooting or attacking and is just a survivor. Michael Schmitt explained, “It has been clear for well over a century that you may not declare what’s called ‘no quarter’— take no survivors, kill everyone. You cannot attack [survivors] unless they’re still shooting at you.”
Coming back to Megyn Kelly’s extremely violent remarks, she has received widespread criticism for what is being considered an extremely unsettling war crime. Netizens have tagged her with words like ‘sociopath’, ‘pathetic’ and ‘psychotic’. An Arizona Democrat representative, Yassamin Ansari, re-shared the journalist’s statements on X and wrote, “Is anyone surprised that the lady who justified the r— and trafficking of teenage girls by calling 14-year-olds the ‘barely legal types’ is now salivating over war crimes too? Megyn Kelly is morally bankrupt and profoundly sick. Ugh.”
