Lauren Sánchez and Jeff Bezos might have just thrown the most talked-about wedding of the year in Venice, but some fans can’t help but discuss another detail about the couple. Their age gap.
It might surprise people to learn that the newlyweds aren’t exactly peers. In fact, despite all the talk of her youthful looks (helped along, allegedly, by a bit of cosmetic enhancement), Sánchez is actually six years younger than Bezos, or five years and 11 months, to be precise. She was born on December 16, 1969, while the Amazon founder celebrates his birthday on January 12, 1964.

Their appearances, of course, tell another story. One that’s kept plenty of plastic surgery rumors swirling. In an exclusive interview with Nicki Swift, New York plastic surgeon Dr. Joel Kopelman talked about the dramatic transformation. “There’s a clear improvement in the jawline and neck area, which leads me to believe she might have had a facelift, or at least a mini facelift. Her cheeks also seem more prominent, possibly due to either cheek implants or fillers,” he explained.
And here’s another fun twist. Sánchez is actually the same age as Bezos’ ex-wife, MacKenzie Scott. Their birthdays fall just four months apart. Yet none of that seems to matter much to the newlyweds themselves. The couple is famously inseparable. “We love to be together and we love to work together,” Sánchez told the Wall Street Journal in 2023. “We fly together. We work out together. We’re together all the time.”
Of course, their love story didn’t start without controversy. Back in 2019, eyebrows shot up when their romance went public. Just hours after Bezos announced his separation from MacKenzie Scott, the National Enquirer published a bombshell accusing him of having an affair with Sánchez while still married.
“Just to set the record straight, I did have a relationship with this woman,” Bezos reportedly told his top executives, according to the New York Post. “But the story is completely wrong and out of order. MacKenzie and I have had good, healthy adult conversations about it. She is fine. The kids are fine. … All of this is very distracting, so thank you for being focused on the business.”
The fallout was swift. Sánchez split from her own then-husband, Patrick Whitesell, to whom she’d been married for 13 years and with whom she has two children. She also has a son with Kansas City Chiefs legend Tony Gonzalez.

By 2023, Bezos had popped the question during a romantic vacation in the south of France. The two made it official with a star-studded, three-day wedding celebration in Venice after four years together.
And even with all the whispers about her changing appearance in the days before the big event, Sánchez stayed all-in on her love story. “He makes me laugh all the time,” she told the WSJ. “He inspires me every day. … He’s the most loving human I know.”
