There is a possibility that Donald Trump and his administration will start deporting US citizens now. Amidst his immigrant crackdown and detaining thousands of people in the ICE detention centers, he is ready to extend that to US citizens who commit certain crimes.

He was asked about the number of detention facilities he would need for his mass deportation plans during his Florida visit on Tuesday. He turns to reply, saying he’d like to say something controversial, yet couldn’t care less. He says, “We have a lot of bad criminals that came into this country and they came in stupidly.”

Earlier, he had blamed Biden for letting the immigrants enter the US during his presidential term, and now Trump is cleaning up his mess. Trump continues saying we have a lot of bad people who have been here for a long time.

For instance, people who whack others on the head or from behind when they aren’t looking and end up killing them. He explained many of them are born in this country, and they need to get their hell out of there. He states that this may be the next job after sending the immigrants back.

Earlier, Trump had given an authoritarian threat where he wished to deport homegrown immigrants–people who are born on US soil. So the people who have the country’s citizenship by birth may get it revoked and be deported for criminal activity.

Trump floats deporting US citizens he deems “bad people” — even if they were born here — saying maybe that’s the “next job.”

Authoritarianism expert Ruth Ben-Ghiat has already called out Trump for this rhetoric. His plans to strip US citizens of their nationality and deport them to El Salvador prisons can affect millions of people.

During Trump’s meeting with the Salvador President Nayib Bukele, he had made a comment that homegrowns are next. This may explain why the administration wants to increase the ICE budget.

Meanwhile the Justice Department is prioritizing revoking the citizenship status of the naturalized citizens who have a criminal background. So this isn’t just an imminent crackdown for Trump, but to get rid of criminals despite their citizenships.

“The Homegrowns Will Be Next,” is one of the more chilling authoritarian phrases I have heard. This is also why they want to increase ICE’s budget so much. https://t.co/Uef8fhDiBZ

Having US citizenship will not protect a person in this case. Trump may not even spare Elon, as he said he could take a look into deporting the tech billionaire. The two have been feuding for a while now, and Musk supported the idea of Trump’s impeachment during his X rants.

Netizens have opinions over this and are attacking the Trump Family starting with the First Lady and her naturalization status. Some users are supporting his reason as they agree the people who commit crimes after taking the naturalization oath to get citizenship are violating it. MAGA supporters see this as an opportunity to get the country rid of criminals.

Donald Trump Jr was born in 1977, Ivanka Trump was born in 1981, Eric Trump was born in 1984. Ivana Trump did not become a citizen until 1988.

Meanwhile, others are questioning where he will deport the people who have lived in the US all their lives, who have been born here. One X user called it a nationalist fantasy, not a real policy.

Trump’s suggestion is truly controversial, and we’ll have to see how his plan unfolds to make America great again.
