All these allegations were on Emhoff, but they truly impacted Harris more. She was a proud wife as she used to gush on her husband. She may not have known about his skeletons in the closet, or maybe she was aware. But all this dirty laundry airing out in public tarnished her public image.
Then came her defeat in the 2024 election, and they had to witness Trump‘s second inauguration. She went back to civilian life but was out of the limelight for a long time. Maybe her husband, Doug, was no more than a dead weight to her at this point. Apart from other factors that made her lose the election, Doug was a part of it, too.

Another major rumor was that Doug had an affair with Harris’ campaign staff. This led to the rumor that they had quietly separated without making the new public to the people. However, the duo was later spotted on an expensive date in May 2025.
Maybe that was a part of the plan to kill the rumors. it can also just be a rumor because of his past since he took responsibility for all his actions during the first marriage. One source says there are signs that not all is hunky dory in their household, even when Kamala is aware of his past.
People also believe the two are focused on different career paths. Kamala may be planning a political comeback while also working on a tell all book.
