The Social Security Administration (SSA) is preparing to send another round of monthly benefit payments on June 18. This time, it targets a specific group of beneficiaries. Individuals who qualify for this payment date include:

  • Retirees and SSDI recipients who began collecting benefits after May 1997.
  • Beneficiaries whose birthdays come between the 11th and 20th of any month.

This system is part of the SSA’s new schedule. It is designed to organize payments based on recipients’ birth dates to streamline the distribution process.

For a schedule of June 2025, Social Security payment is organized into three separate parts:

  • For beneficiaries born between the 1st and 10th of any month, the payments were released on June 12.
  • For those who are born between the 11th and 20th, the payments are scheduled to be released on June 18.
  • For recipients with birthdays between the 21st and 31st, payments will be released on June 25.

Those who began receiving benefits before May 1997 would have already received their payments earlier this month, on June 3. SSI (Supplemental Security Income) recipients were paid on May 30. It was so as June 1 fell on a weekend.

The exact amount received depends on the individual’s earnings history, retirement age, and the type of benefit. However, the SSA has shared the following averages and maximums:

Social Security Retirement Payments:

  • Average monthly benefit: ~$1,976. It reflects the 2024 COLA increase.
  • Maximum Social Security Benefit for the workers retiring at Full Retirement Age will receive benefits up to $4,018 per month
  • Beneficiaries will receive the maximum benefit of $5,108/month at 70.

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI):

  • The average monthly SSDI benefit ranges from $1,537 to $1,580.
  • The maximum SSDI benefit is $4,018; It also depends on the work history of the recipient.
  • These figures play a vital role in monthly budgeting for millions, especially as inflation continues to strain household finances.

If you are expecting your payment on June 18 and it hasn’t arrived yet, you must follow these steps:

  • You must wait at least three business days after the expected date before reporting a problem.
  • Always double-check your bank account and recheck your direct deposit information.
  • If even after three days, you have not received your social security payment, contact the SSA at 1-800-772-1213. You can also log in to your MySocial Security account for updates or help.

Though the Social Security Administration will resolve your payment issue as quickly as possible, it is also your responsibility to be proactive in finding a timely solution. However, since there are backlogs, one must practice patience and humility while talking to agents.

There are more than 71 million Americans who rely on Social Security and SSDI payments each month. These distributions are a crucial financial lifeline. During ongoing economic pressures and no new federal stimulus, Social Security benefits help recipients cover essentials like housing, healthcare, and groceries.

The government has recently made an increase in cost-of-living adjustment (COLA). This is definitely helpful yet it still falls short in front of the constant increase in the inflation rates. That’s why an accurate distribution in a timely manner is definitely critical and appreciated.

Beneficiaries are strongly encouraged to set up direct deposit through the SSA’s official website. It will remove the hassle of mailing delays or missing mails. This method is secure and efficient, and also ensures immediate access to funds on the scheduled payment date.

Those who want to update their payment preference can do so by visiting SSA.gov or using the My Social Security portal.
