Barron’s icy body language toward Musk has taken on new meaning in light of recent events. Trump and Musk’s once-transactional alliance exploded after Musk accused Trump of being implicated in Jeffrey Epstein’s files. At the same time, Trump publicly mocked Musk’s ego and Tesla’s vulnerability under a GOP energy bill.
But rewind to Thanksgiving 2024 (when Barron and Musk shared a dinner table), and there’s reason to believe the young Trump may have already known something the rest of us didn’t. Despite reports of the duo discussing consciousness and interplanetary colonization, Barron’s later conduct suggested dislike or suspicion at the inauguration.

“Barron is very smart,” she wrote on X in November 2024. But others weren’t buying the PR glow-up.
A resurfaced photo from that dinner (showing Trump seemingly asking Barron a question) was turned into a meme. “Is it okay if I’m friends with Elon?” one user suggested Trump was asking. The imagined response? “I’ll allow it, Father,” Barron replied coldly. Post-breakup, the photo reads less like camaraderie and more like prophecy.
In retrospect, it’s possible Barron wasn’t starstruck by Musk’s space talk or billionaire swagger. Maybe the teenage Trump was the first in his orbit to intuit what would unfold: that a man as mercurial as Musk could never be fully trusted, no matter how high his net worth or his Mars ambitions.
