Donald Trump proudly declared that he invented a new word. The moment came while the President recently addressed his plan to lower the cost of drugs. During his address, Trump bragged that he had up with word “equalize.” Soon after, a TikToker debunked Trump’s claim.

The newest thing on Trump’s agenda is to reduce the cost of drugs in the country. In a meeting that took place in the Oval Office, the President issued an executive order to help do the same.

He noted how the US government is now planning on “equalizing.” He added, “There’s a new word that I came up with, which is probably the best word.” Trump explained how his plan is to “equalize” the price points to make sure everyone is paying the same.

“We’re gonna pay what Europe’s gonna pay,” he declared. Following his speech, the President signed an executive order that gave drug manufacturers a 30-day deadline to lower their costs.

TikTok user Farrukh Younus took to the platform to note that Trump’s claim about inventing the word “equalize” was false. “Back in reality, the word ‘equalize’ was first recorded in English in the late 15th century, around circa 1480–1500,” Younus shared.

The TikTok user goes on to delve deep into the origin of the word that Trump claims to have coined. According to Farrukh, the word equalize is derived from the Latin word aequalizare, which means ‘to make equal.’

JUST NOW: In a deranged and senile moment, Donald Trump takes credit for the word “equalize.”
Trump: “Basically what we’re doing is equalizing. It’s a new word that I came up, which I think is probably the best word.” Is it time for the 25th Amendment?

“Which in turn is derived from aequalis (equal). Latin root: aequalis = equal. Late Latin: aequalizare = to make equal. English adoption: around 1480–1500 as equalize,” the TikTok user explains in detail.

Farukkh’s video, where he debunked the President’s claim, picked up traction within 24 hours of it being posted. The video gained 500,000 views within the day. Netizens did not miss the opportunity to criticise the President either.

“Five bucks says ‘The Equalizer’ was playing on TV the day before that press briefing,” one quipped. “We have the dumbest President in the world. Can’t wait until he’s out of office,” another added.

A third added, “Omg. Takes away Department of Education and is now convincing his voters he’s inventing new words… and they’ll believe him!” Another netizen claimed that if a President or Prime Minister of another country had said something “asinine,” they’d be forced to resign.

“First, ‘groceries’, now ‘equalize’, so much learning for Donald. He must be tired from these mental challenges,” another added. The users seem to be in reference of from Trump’s speech back in April.

While the President spoke about imposing trade tariffs on various countries, he spoke about the word groceries. “An old-fashioned term that we use, ‘groceries.’ I used it on the campaign. It’s such an old-fashioned term, but a beautiful term. Groceries,” Trump was heard saying.
