Seven FCS teams defeated their FBS opponents over the weekend, and those upsets earned the teams a combined total of $2.375 million.
On Saturday, four FCS teams defeated FBS teams alone, and, with 7 Week 1 wins in total, it is the most FCS upsets over FBS schools since 2000.
The biggest shocker was Eastern Washington, which defeated No. 25 ranked Oregon state. That victory marks only the third time since 2000 that an FCS school has defeated a top-ranked FBS program. Also impressive was North Dakota State which defeated co-Big 12 defending champion Kansas State 24-21 on Friday.
The school with the biggest margin of victory was McNeese State which defeated South Florida 53-21. That 32-point margin was the largest divide for an FCS school over an FBS team since Troy beat Louisiana-Monroe by the same marging in 2001.
Payouts for each victory ranged form $225,000 to $450,000.

• North Dakota State, $350,000 from Kansas State;
• Northern Iowa, $350,000 from Iowa State;
• Eastern Illinois, $325,000 from San Diego State;
• Towson, $275,000 from UConn;
• Southern Utah, $225,000 from South Alabama
Samford also defeated Georgia State, however, Georgia State is transitioning from FCS to FBS designation but has not yet made the leap.
