Marvel Studios has just announced that James Spader has been cast as Ultron in the sequel The Avengers: Age Of Ultron.

The character was originally created by Hank Pym (Ant-Man) in the source material, Ultron is a major villain in The Avengers since the beginning.

The cast is starting to take shape for the much anticipated sequel from Joss Whedon which is set to start filming in March of 2014 and is planned to be released on May 1, 2015.

Ultron is a robot like villain who has constantly pestered our Avengers and has fought them collectively and individually with aims at controlling the Universe.

The title of the new installment in the franchise was announced earlier in the year at San Diego Comic-Con by Marvel Studios chief Keving Feige, who also revealed who the villain would be.

James Spader is an award-winning actor who has recently starred in Boston Legal playing Alan Shore and also The Practice.

Past roles for the new Ultron, include films such as Sex, Lies, And Videotapes, Pretty In Pink, Less Than Zero, Stargate, Secretary, and Lincoln.

The 53-year-old actor will also star in the upcoming NBC drama The Blacklist, which is set to premiere on September 23.

Spader joins an already impressive cast for Joss Whedon’s sequel. Starring are Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Robert Downey Jr., Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and many others.

Whedon recently said that as great as it was to work with Tom Hiddleston as the villain in The Avengers it is important to move on and progress the story so that fans don’t get bored.

In this spirit the new film is introducing Ultron and now that we have a casting for it, everyone should be massively excited that Marvel has secured such a powerhouse name to join the franchise.

The Avengers: Age Of Ultron now has its villain in James Spader. It will be interesting to see what he does with the character.
