The team at Gizmodo must have been falling all over themselves when they fell into the possession of the newest Apple device, the yet to be officially announced iPhone 4G or perhaps iPhone HD.
The device, a decent departure in features and design from past iPhone models was apparently left behind in a Redwood City bar by what we’ll assume is now an ex-Apple employee, or perhaps the jokes on all of us.
Here’s what Gizmodo had to say about the device:
According to the person who found it, this iPhone was running iPhone OS 4.0 before the iPhone 4.0 announcement. The person was able to play with it and see the iPhone 4.0 features. Then, Apple remotely killed the phone before we got access to it. We were unable to restore because each firmware is device specific—3GS firmware only loads on 3GS devices—and there are no firmwares available for this unreleased phone. Which is another clue to its authenticity.
Mashable created a quick list of new features for the device which include:
- Front-facing camera
- Better back camera
- Micro SIM card (like the upcoming iPad 3G)
- Better display
- Split volume buttons
The phone looks different as well, the picture at the top of this page shows the phone next to the iPhone 3GS.
Regardless if it’s real or not, what do you think about this possible iPhone 4G build factor, personally I think it’s a step in the right direction.
