A Halloween party in Texas turned into mayhem when a guest dressed up as Santa Claus opened fire, leaving four people with serious injuries. The shooting took place at a house party in Austin, the New York Daily News noted, and was reportedly among victims who knew one another. The report noted that incident was initially described by police as an active shooter situation, but the short-tempered Santa Claus was arrested at the scene without incident.
Two of the injuries were considered life-threatening, CBS News reported, while another person suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

While this may be the most unusual incident to happen this week, it is not the only incident where a Halloween party turned violent. Within the last week there were a number of other incidents across the country as costumed revelers and alcohol mixed to disastrous results. In New Jersey, a Halloween party being held at a hotel turned into mayhem after shots rang out, NJ.com reported, causing partygoers to flee in a panicked scene. Two people were injured with what police described as non-life-threatening injuries, and others were reportedly injured in the chaos that ensued after the shots were fired.
Police were investigating the shooting as of late last week, but had not announced suspects or a motive for the shooting.
In Los Angeles, another Halloween party shooting turned fatal. One person was declared dead on the scene of the shooting and another was taken to the hospital, the Los Angeles Times reported. The full circumstances behind the shooting were not released, but witnesses said they saw the shooter fleeing through a parking lot. Police have not made an arrest or identified a suspect, and the motive for the shooting is not clear.
