Citing concerns about what is best for their passengers the German BVG Agency; who is responsible for the German subway system, has had an iPhone app shut down by Apple. The application for the iPhone; written by a 21 year old web developer, uses the GPS in the iPhone to help people find the nearest public transportation U-Bahn and S-Bahn (subway) stations.
As Allen Stern noted in his post on this one of his German contacts suggested that BVG did in fear that if the data proved to be wrong; for whatever reason, they could end up being sued by German citizens. So rather than having to deal with the issue they just had Apple shut the application down.
To date the application had been downloaded 20,000 times.
