Michael is no stranger to controversy. Set to start the final game of the season for the Eagles for injured starter Nick Foles, Vick is now telling the media that Philadelphia’s change at offensive line coach is the reason for his diminished play.

The Philadelphia Eagles benched Michael Vick earlier in the season after poor play and a concussion. In his place rookie back up Nick Foles put up solid enough numbers that he was named the starter for the remainder of the season.

With the Eagles eliminated from the playoffs and Nick Foles out with an injury Vick is the starter for the Eagles finale against the New York Giants.

On Thursday Vick told the Philadelphia Inquirer :

“Because Howard and Juan are two totally different personalities and two totally different schemes. And they like their own caliber of players. It was different. But we lost Juan to the defense, so I had to go with what I had to go with. Obviously, yeah. Just being honest and candid about the situation. Things changed dramatically. It is what it is. We all kind of gradually worked our way into it until we got comfortable. I had to learn new protection schemes, verbiage. And we shuffled around a lot of players. So everybody had to start all over.”

Juan Castillo is Vick’s former offensive line coordinator who Eagles head coach Andy Reid made the Defensive Coordinator for the 2011 NFL season. Howard Mudd is the Eagles current offensive line coordinator now being thrown under the bus by Vick in defense of his his poor play. Before being benched Vick led the league in turnovers and was beginning to lose favor with the coaching staff.

Do you think Michael Vick is out of line with his statement?
