After months of speculation, NBC’s Munsters reboot Mockingbird Lane has officially been canceled by the network. Those hoping the pilot would go to series will certainly be disappointed.

X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer and Pushing Daisies mastermind Bryan Fuller teamed up on the project. Although early footage received a warm response at the San Diego Comic Con, the pilot apparently didn’t win over executives at NBC.

According to Collider , the news of Mockingbird Lane’s cancellation came from Fuller himself. The Dead Like Me creator recently made the announcement on his Twitter account.

Fuller said of the $10 million series:

“I tweet with a heavy heart. NBC not moving forward with #MockingbirdLane. From producers and cast, thank you all for enthusiasm and support.”

The series, which starred Jerry O’Connell, Portia de Rossi, and Eddie Izzard, followed the adventures of the iconic family as they attempt to blend in with other suburbanites. The show was billed as a modern version of classic television series The Munsters .

NBC described the show as follows:

“In ‘Mockingbird Lane,’ sweet little Eddie Munster is a normal kid about to enter the horrors of puberty. The truth is, he’s about to discover that, for him, becoming a teenager means growing hair in truly unexpected places – as in all over his body – every time the moon is full! Eddie’s got it pretty good though. His loving, supportive, run-of-the-mill family includes his mom Lily, the daughter of Dracula, his dad Herman, who brings new meaning to “Frankenstein,” and Grandpa, who would give Dracula a run for his money if he weren’t actually Dracula! Of course, there’s creepy cousin Marilyn, who’s really the odd one because she’s so completely normal.”

Although Fuller may be down for the moment, he’s certainly not out for the count. According to CNN , work recently began on Fuller’s latest project Hannibal starring Hugh Dancy.
