Fans of The Young and the Restless responded to the recent Abbott Family flashback episodes when the show posted pictures of the actors and their young counterparts on social media.

According to a recent Inquisitr Y&R recap, Traci (Beth Maitland) insisted her family sit down together and relive their past hurts to examine them in an attempt to heal their fractured family in the present time. Throughout much of this week, Jack (Peter Bergman), Ashley (Eileen Davidson), and Traci have flashed back to younger versions of themselves and their dad John Abbott and mom, Dina (Marla Adams).

Portraying the flashback versions of the iconic Genoa City family young John (Jonathan Stoddard), young Dina (Cathy Marks), and the kids, young Jack (Graham Taylor), young Ashley (Julia D’Arcy Badinger), and young Traci (Valentina Sky Gordon). One scene included a moment John purchased a surprise red convertible for Dina and came home early with family plans, but unfortunately, she had her own plans for the evening.

The present-day characters noted that it was the beginning of the end of their lives without a broken family.

While some fans felt the flashbacks were a history rewrite, the scenes actually took place before Y&R began airing in March of 1973. A large number of viewers appreciated the valuable insight the flashbacks provided into the serious present-day issues the Abbott family faces.

The show posted a series of pictures of the younger actors with their counterparts and asked fans how they felt about the weeks’ insight into the family.

One fan replied echoing hundreds of others, “So fun to see this storyline. Sad in the end we know Ashley leaves, but love the flashback to the relationship.”

For one viewer the situation made them feel the family would experience a dramatic change shortly. She wrote, “It was nice. Almost makes me feel like the whole Abbott family line will be written out soon, then will it be Victor’s family?”

While many fan comments were positive, plenty of viewers chimed in who did not appreciate the scenes. On said, “I don’t like it. I love the role of Dina, old Dina. And I hate that Ashley is leaving. I hope they replace her character with a new actress even though I adore @eileendavidsonofficial.”

Losing Eileen Davidson is a tough pill for Y&R fans to swallow. Her last airdate is on Monday, October 29, and according to The Young and the Restless spoilers from the Inquisitr , Ashley is going to leave Genoa City and Jabot in a world of trouble with her exit.
