Almost a year ago, Northern California mom, Sherri Papini, vanished without a trace until she was finally recovered three weeks later on Thanksgiving morning. Authorities have now released information about DNA evidence recovered in the case, as well as the 911 call her husband made when he discovered she was missing.

On Wednesday, the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office released information about DNA found on Sherri’s body and clothing, noting that it belonged to two people – a man and a woman. According to the Los Angeles Times , the DNA samples did not belong to either Sherri or her husband, Keith Papini.

Keith’s 911 call to alert authorities to his wife’s disappearance was also released Wednesday. In the call, he informs the emergency dispatcher that the last time he heard from his wife was in a text that asked if he was going to be home for lunch.

Sherri, 34 at the time, went missing during an afternoon jog around 2 p.m. near her Redding, California residence on November 2, 2016. Keith became alarmed when he arrived home from work and the family residence was empty, which was unusual. After he learned Sherri had failed to pick up their two children from daycare, he panicked and began tracking Sherri’s cell phone.

Keith used a phone app to locate his wife’s phone, which he found on the side of a rural road not far from the family home. Sherri’s family joined Keith in an exhaustive search for the missing California mother that continued until she was finally recovered.

Sherri was found alive on the side of a Yolo County highway about 140 miles from where she was last seen jogging after flagging down a motorist on Thanksgiving Day at around 4:30 a.m.

Her husband described the condition she was found in, saying Sherri had been beaten and branded and had multiple bruises on her body. He also told media that Sherri’s long blond hair had been cut off, and she was emaciated weighing only 87 pounds.

Sherri told authorities she had been kidnapped and her captors kept their faces covered most of the time so she was unable to offer many details about them. Nonetheless, she was able to describe her abductors as two Hispanic women with Spanish accents. Sherri said that one was younger with curly hair, thin eyebrows, and pierced ears, and the other was an older female having thick eyebrows and black hair with gray in it, reports the Los Angeles Times .

Authorities have announced that when Sherri was found, she was chained in restraints and had visible injuries.
