Nearly one year after the case of Sherri Papini perplexed the nation, the FBI has provided an update to Papini’s mysterious kidnapping. As reported by the Inquisitr , Sherri’s husband Keith Papini said she was only 87 pounds when Sherri was found on the side of the highway more than three weeks after she disappeared. The strange details of the case prompted people to dig into Sherri’s past to uncover information about her ex-husband and more. The questions about Sherri’s disappearance after jogging one day continue, even as new details about Papini’s ordeal have been released to the public.

According to KRCRTV , Sherri described two Hispanic women whom she claimed kidnapped the young mother and left Papini bruised and battered after 22 days. The above sketch from the FBI and the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office represents the two women, with authorities blaming Papini’s difficulty in trying to remember what her kidnappers looked like as the reason for the 10-month delay in publishing the sketches.

On November 2, 2016, Sherri disappeared near her Shasta County house in Mountain Gate. Keith originally called 911 to report Sherri missing. Search warrants were executed and authorities received more than 600 tips in the course of their investigation. Keith took a lie-detector test and offered to take more. The Sheriff’s Office did learn that Sherri was texting a male friend from Michigan before her disappearance, with Sherri and the man planning to meet when he visited California. The man was not involved in Papini’s disappearance, according to police.

Sherri was found with clamps on her ankles and a chain around her waist. Papini described hearing her kidnappers argue before her release, along with hearing a single gun shot. Sherri’s hair had been cut and she had a brand on her shoulder, but Papini had not been sexually assaulted. It is not clear what word or lettering the brand represents.

One question about Sherri’s account of a fight that Papini claimed she had with one of her captors has arisen when Sherri said she cut her foot after slamming one of the women’s heads against a toilet. However, authorities could find no evidence of a cut.
