Cute animal videos always win the coveted hearts of the internet . The newest entry? A short video in which a “lifeguard” pig bravely leaps into a shallow pond to save a goat from drowning.
The video, titled “Pig rescues baby goat” was uploaded to YouTube yesterday, and though it only boasts around 3,000 views as of this posting, it may quickly catch viral in the next couple days with attention from snarky blog Gawker and SayOMG.com .
“Pig saves goat who’s foot was stuck underwater at petting zoo. Simply amazing,” reads the description, and YouTube commentators are responding in the usual fashion that YouTube commentators respond.
Animal compassion: “I don’t want to eat pork anymore! I feel bad!”
Pop culture reference: “That’ll do pig. That’ll do.”
Troll: “This makes bacon taste even more better after watching this. nom nom.”
Political debate: “You’re probably the only person in the world who could turn the warm, fuzzy feelings created by this video into a profanity-laced diatribe against people who philosophically disagree with you. It’s a feat not even the Tea Party’s worst could match.”
My favorite part about this video is the cameraman. Some commentators are giving him grief because he himself did not intervene, instead choosing to document as is the norm these days. He simply declares “Goat in the water!” and while commentators seem to imagine him wagging his finger and swiveling his head with a smile on his face, I instead imagine him taking a power stance and pointing authoritatively, dispatching the lifeguard pig to save the poor, drowning goat.
