Samsung Galaxy S5 Rumors: Features And Release Date

Samsung is rushing the production of the Samsung Galaxy S5 because of slower than expected Galaxy S4 sales, according to South Korean website Joseilbo.

Samsung has managed to sell more than 20 million units from its aging flagship smartphone but a global slowdown in sales may have spooked the device manufacturer.

According to the new report the company will announced the Samsung Galaxy S5 in January 2014. If the report is correct it would mean Samsung is changing from a yearly release cycle to a six month cycle.

Supplier rumors suggest that Samsung has added an ultra-fast 64-bit octa-core Exynos 5430 processor into the mix in place of the still relatively new 5420. Samsung controls its own in-house silicon and has used its manufacturing prowess to shoot ahead of its competitors.

The report also suggests that Samsung will use a 16MP camera with OIS and vastly improved low-light performance.

There is also the very real possibility that the Samsung Galaxy S5 will finally feature a high-end metal chassis that competes with the Apple iPhone series. Apple currently features a plastic design for its cheaper iPhone 5C series and sticking with plastic phones could make the Samsung line seem like a low-end device despite high-end internal hardware options.

Rumors are still coming in and there is the very real possibility that Samsung may delay the release of a new smartphone. At the same time, Apple is releasing more than one smartphone at a time and that could leave Samsung with increased competition that it must answer for.

With competition increasing overall in the smartphone market we could soon see shorter release schedules and a larger number of smartphone models arriving to market.

Do you think Samsung, Apple , Google, and other manufacturers should start releasing new smartphones at a faster rate?
