No one will accuse the WWE network of underplaying last night’s promo for the upcoming Survivor Series PPV. As reported by Cageside Seats , the blue team invaded Monday Night Raw and wreaked havoc in the red team locker room. Raw General Manager Kurt Angle was in the ring talking about the Survivor Series when Shane McMahon led the SmackDown Live team into the arena. As the blue team circled the ring Angle quickly made himself scarce as he headed to the locker room with almost the entire SmackDown roster on his tail.

The blue team then laid waste to the Monday Night Raw team, and so began the real buildup to next month’s Survivor Series . Of course, this is WWE wrestling, so you can be sure that the Raw team will not take kindly to SmackDown’s locker room invasion. You can be sure that the red team will be out for revenge, probably on tonight’s SmackDown Live .

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of last night’s Monday Night Raw shenanigans is the conflict between SmackDown commissioner Shane McMahon and Raw General Manager Kurt Angle. McMahon tends to compete at the more important WWE PPV events, and few wrestling fans will have missed the fact that Kurt Angle returned to the ring on Sunday at the TLC PPV.

Bleacher Report speculates that this points to Shane McMahon vs. Kurt Angle at the Survivor Series PPV. They even suggest that the match could carry extra interest if the winner were to win the right to claim a superstar from the opposite roster. AJ Styles to Monday Night Raw anyone? Interestingly, Styles teamed up with Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins to defeat The Miz, Cesaro, and Sheamus on Monday Night Raw.

One thing is certain, last night’s Monday Night Raw indicates that the Survivor Series will feature the usual host of Raw vs. Smackdown clashes. The official WWE website has already announced Brock Lesnar vs. Jinder Mahal for the Survivor Series . The two world champions will battle it out for bragging rights and the right to call themselves the WWE’s top dog.

At last weekend’s Tables, Ladders, and Chairs PPV, AJ Styles crossed rosters at the last moment to replace Bray Wyatt. For many AJ Styles vs. Finn Balor was the best match on the TLC card. A repeat of that match would be a huge draw for the Survivor Series and would be another cross roster match.

Doubtless, tonight’s SmackDown Live will provide a clearer picture of the Survivor Series card.
