It appears that the WWE rumors of a special Raw vs. SmackDown women’s Survivor Series match happening again this year are closer to a reality now. At last year’s event, two teams of five women’s superstars from each “brand” participated in an elimination match. Two women from Team Raw were left standing tall, with Alexa Bliss amongst those eliminated from Smackdown ‘s team. Right after a successful title defense on Sunday night, Bliss was asked about being a captain for a Team Raw heading into the Survivor Series 2017 event. Based on her response it seems she may have already agreed to the idea.
According to Wrestling Inc , Alexa Bliss appeared on the latest Raw Talk episode on Sunday night after WWE’s TLC 2017 pay-per-view had ended. During the event, she defeated Mickie James to retain the WWE Raw Women’s Championship. Raw Talk hosts Renee Young and Peter Rosenberg asked about a potential Survivor Series match in which Team Raw would take on Team SmackDown for the women. Bliss immediately said as the leader of the Raw brand she would be in charge and it wouldn’t matter who gets along with her because the championship belt makes her the leader they need to listen to.
While no other participants have been announced, one would have to think it will again involve the top women’s superstars from each respective roster. With Alexa Bliss captaining the Raw women’s team this year, it would probably mean that others on her team might include Asuka, Sasha Banks, Bayley and Nia Jax, Mickie James, or Emma. Other women’s stars on the roster right now are Dana Brooke and Alicia Fox who have been used in matches here or there.

It would seem that as the current WWE SmackDown Live Women’s Champion, Natalya would head up the leadership role for her team. Other women who would probably be on the blue brand’s team right now include Naomi, Tamina, Becky Lynch, Carmella, and Charlotte.
The interesting aspect of this is the fact there were WWE rumors not long ago for another Survivor Series women’s match. However, it would involve WWE’s “Four Horsewomen” going against the UFC’s “Four Horsewomen.” The idea was teased during a WWE video in which UFC star Ronda Rousey was at the Mae Young Classic with two of her MMA pals. Charlotte Flair, Bayley, and Becky Lynch showed up without their fourth member, Sasha Banks, to try some intimidation, but Rousey threw out the “anytime, anyplace” challenge.
It seems unlikely that WWE would have two different women’s matches at the pay-per-view with teams, but one never knows. There seem to be enough women superstars to have both matches, but one has to wonder if the fans would go for two of these matches on the same card.
WWE fans, who would you want to see on Team Raw and Team SmackDown for this year’s Survivor Series 2017 women’s elimination match?
Update 10/23: The PWinsider website is now reporting that Natalya will take on Alexa Bliss in a singles match at Survivor Series 2017. A match between Bayley and Sasha Banks will take place on Raw to determine the team captain.
