Willemstad, CURACAO – Two bags were lost and have now been found from the Missoni plane crash.
Bonaire Police said Thursday that two pieces of luggage from a missing plane said to carry Italian fashion mogul and CEO Vittorio Missoni have washed up on the beach on the small island.
The two bags were found earlier this week on a rocky beach off Venezuela. The missing plane’s passengers included Vittorio Missoni, his wife and four others. Due to an ongoing investigation, police spokesperson Hans Baltus declined to provide information concerning the bags or nametags. A piece of luggage belonging to a tourist who missed that flight washed up in nearby Curacao late last month. Curacao lies some 200 miles west of Los Roques. It was the first sign of debris from the missing plane.
The BN-2 Islander plane from Los Roques on January 4, carrying Missoni and the others, disappeared shortly after takeoff. It had been planned for Caracas. As previously reported by The Inquisitr , the pilot of the plane that crashed had been flying with an expired license.
According to The News Tribune , Claudio Verna (a family friend) said the Missoni family and their friends still hope that the plane did not plunge into the ocean:
“You cannot exclude that someone could launch bags in the sea. We are not in the condition now to exclude any other option.”
According to the Huffington Post , Claudio Verna plans fly to Venezuela next week and hire a boat to search for Missoni’s missing plane as soon as possible.
