Amy Poehler and Nick Kroll are America’s funniest new couple . The rumors about the comedy match-up have been brewing for some weeks, but now the pair has officially appeared together on Thursday at the American Film Institute (AFI) 41st Life Achievement Award Gala in Hollywood, California. Check out the video I posted below.

The event was held to honor another famous comedy icon, Mel Brooks, one of the most popular and successful comedy directors of the 1970s. Some of his most popular films include the classics Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles .

The 41-year-old Parks and Recreation star separated from her husband Will Arnett last September. The 43-year-old Canadian Arrested Development actor recently told Us that he’d been going to the gym obsessively to work out his emotions after the breakup.

But he still sounded like he’d been unprepared for the split, and Arnett had confessed that he wasn’t yet dating.

By contrast, Amy Poehler has already zeroed in on Nick Kroll. The younger man now stars in Comedy Central’s Kroll Show . However, he is likely best known to fans for the role of Rodney Ruxin on FX’s The League .

And, of course, NBC Parks and Recreation viewers will recognize him as “the Douche,” a morning radio shock jock.

In their first public appearance together , Poehler reportedly walked down the red carpet by herself to find the 35-year-old Kroll waiting at her table. The couple reportedly linked arms and gazed at each other affectionately during the event.

Poehler and Kroll had reportedly been friends for years but the AFI appearance together is the first public acknowledgement that their relationship had developed into something more.

My guess is that the new funny couple is funny to everybody except Will Arnett.

What are your thoughts on the Nick Kroll and Amy Poehler pair-up?
