Is Miley Cyrus’ Dead Petz album causing people to actually think the former Hannah Montana star really did die? The internet can be a very strange place, but for some odd reason, a celebrity death rumor resurfaced on Twitter this week. Once again, people were claiming that Billy Ray Cyrus’ daughter was found dead in her Malibu home from a prescription drug overdose.
Speaking of Miley and Malibu, the music video on YouTube is apparently where everyone is getting this idea. If you check out the comments section there are a long list of YouTube comments say, “ RIP Miley .” In response, many comments have taken to task anyone spreading the celebrity death hoax further.
“Why does everyone keep saying that Miley is dead?” asked one YouTube user named Blue Banana. “She is alive. Don’t believe everything on the internet or one day, you yourself might think you’re dead when you are obviously still alive.”
The confusion spread to Twitter, with some people commenting on the situation.

To put the level of public interest into perspective, Google’s data indicates that the number of people searching “Miley Cyrus Dead” had exploded on May 30, reaching over 10 times the average daily search traffic. Some Twitter users have been sending tweets directed at Miley, notifying her that the world is wanting to know if she’s really dead or alive.
Who knows how or if she’ll respond, but one time in 2014, a Miley Cyrus death hoax graced the world and the pop star simply posted a new topless pic without comment. By 2016, the celebrity death hoaxes were getting so bad that Miley apparently felt forced to respond, saying that she “hopes the people who make the hoax think of a more clever way on the reason for her demise since the bathtub reason was pretty weak for her more morbid sense of humor.”

Besides the YouTube comments section of the Malibu music video, it is uncertain where this newest celebrity death hoax started. The first major iteration claimed Miley had died from a drug overdose in a bathtub in her Malibu home. A second version started with a Facebook community that claimed CNN reported Miley’s death, saying that she “died today in a car crash” after “she was ejected from the vehicle and died nearly instantly upon impact.”
What made the second version of Miley’s death so strange is that someone went out of their way to create a RIP Miley Cyrus Facebook page.
“At about 11 a.m. ET on Wednesday (March 04, 2015), our beloved actress Miley Cyrus passed away,” claimed the page. “Miley Cyrus was born on November 23, 1992 in Nashville. She will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page.”
While those who hate pop music may want to see Miley Cyrus dead, many people are just tired of the celebrity death hoaxes. According to a previous Inquisitr report, an “amazing 72 percent of poll respondents believe that hearing about Hannah Montana’s death is simply not funny anymore, calling it stupid and boring. Only 28 percent think it is funny to hear about fake stories of the death of a major celebrity.”
