Selena Gomez may have new music coming “soon.”
Although the singer and actress has stayed mum on her future plans since returning to the spotlight after an alleged stint in rehab, her close friend, Ryan Butler, claimed on Twitter recently that new music from Gomez was reportedly on the horizon.
On December 15, after fans began sharing messages on Twitter about their desire to hear new songs from Selena Gomez, Butler, a graphic designer, hopped into the conversation and told the fans that they could expect to hear new music “soon.” Unfortunately, as Hollywood Life explained, that was all Butler revealed .
While no additional details have been given in regard to when and how much new music is coming, the outlet suspected that Gomez would be releasing a handful of tracks or an entire new album.

Selena Gomez released a few singles in 2016, including “Kill Em With Kindness,” “Feel Me,” and “Lost in Love,” her collaboration with Calvin Harris. Meanwhile, her latest album, Revival , was released in October of last year.
Selena Gomez began touring the world earlier this year, but in late August, the 24-year-old singer canceled her Revival World Tour and reportedly embarked on a 90-day hiatus, during which she focused on her mental health. As fans will recall, Selena Gomez announced she was in need of “some time off” in a statement to People Magazine and revealed that her struggles with Lupus had led to issues, including anxiety, depression, and panic attacks.
A short time later, Selena Gomez reportedly entered a Tennessee treatment facility, and last month, she returned to the spotlight at the 2016 American Music Awards in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, a source recently spoke out and confirmed that Selena Gomez had allegedly begun recording music again.
“[Selena Gomez] wrote lots of lyrics in treatment,” a source told Us Weekly , according to a report by Hollywood Life on December 14. “She has so many ideas.”
Selena Gomez is reportedly working at a Los Angeles studio as she prepares to potentially release the follow-up to her platinum album, Revival .

During her appearance at the 2016 American Music Awards, Selena Gomez received the award for Best Female Artist: Pop/Rock, and while accepting the award, she presented her fans with an emotional speech about her break from the spotlight.
“In 2014, this stage was actually the first time that I was authentically, 100 percent honest with all of you. I think it’s safe to say that all of you know my life whether I like it or not,” Selena Gomez told the audience , via Mashable . “I had to stop, because I had everything and I was absolutely broken inside. I kept it all together enough to where I would never let you down but I kept it too much together to where I let myself down.”
“I don’t want to see your bodies on Instagram. I want to see what’s in here,” she continued, pointing to her heart. “I’m not trying to get validation, nor do I need it anymore. All I can say from the bottom of my heart is I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to be able to share what I love every single day with people that I love… I have to say thank you so much to my fans because you guys are so damn loyal and I don’t know what I did to deserve you.”
Selena Gomez went on to tell the audience that if they are broken, they do not have to stay broken.
“If that’s anything, whether you respect me or not, that’s one thing you should know about me is I care about people. Thank you so much for this. This is for you. Thank you,” she concluded.
