Former Law and Order actor Dennis Farina was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport Sunday on guns charges. Farina, a former policeman turned actor best known for playing policeman, was picked up for trying to carrying a loaded .22 caliber, semi-automatic pistol on to a Chicago bound plane. Farina told authorities that he brought the weapon with him on a drive from Arizona to Los Angeles and forgot it was in his briefcase.

Reuters reported that Farina co-operated with authorities and was “very apologetic.”

Farina was initially charged with one misdemeanor count of carrying a loaded firearm, but the charge was later upgraded to a felony after police found the gun was not registered. Bail was set at $35,000.
