Ready for an idea of what Ben Affleck could look like as Batman in Man of Steel 2?

Concept art of Ben Affleck as Batman hit fan forums this week, and started going viral on social media sites. It supposedly came from comic book artist Steve Scott, who has done work in the TV and film industry, and who has worked with Christopher Nolan before.

FTK and ComicBook.com writers doubt the legitimacy of the “concept art,” which includes strange notes like “Ben wants no bat nipples,” a reference to the controversial costume designs from the Joel Schumacher era.

The piece itself does look like Scott’s work, but we can’t say for sure. This is either leaked concept art we’re seeing way ahead of its time, a possible audition piece, an early sketch, or even just an unofficial fan concept. Also, it’s entirely possible that it’s leftover concept art from Justice League back when that was a priority at Warner Bros. and they were looking to attach Ben Affleck in some capacity.

In any case, I don’t think it’s different enough from the Nolan suit to be taken seriously. I’ve personally been hoping that the movies will get away from the all-black design in favor of something that looks more like the comic book costume, though updated for tangible realism.

Think Batman: Arkham Origins, for instance.

Anyway, check out the Ben Affleck as Batman concept art below, and let us know what you think. Is this the real deal, or just fan art of some kind? Do you like the design? Real or not, it’s our first visual idea of what Affleck could look like as the new Dark Knight.
