Couple Jailed For Gun That Was Actually TV Remote

Imagine this: You call the paramedics in the midst of a panic attack and then end up in jail because the medical professional mistakes your boyfriend’s TV remote for a gun.

That is exactly what happened to British couple Michelle Malone and her boyfriend Keith Abrahams.

Metro reported that armed police raided the couple’s home in the middle of the night following reports of a man with a gun, which turned out to be a TV remote control.

Abrahams, 44, said he was dozing off in bed, and the next thing he knew, he was being ordered out of bed by police.

“I had only sat in bed and dozed off. The next thing I know I’m being ordered out of bed at gunpoint.”

According to MSN Now Malone, 46, had suffered a panic attack earlier in the evening and had called for a paramedic.

It was a little while later that 18 police officers busted into their home, all pointing guns at Abrahams.

“The police told us the medic had seen a ten-inch black firearm being held by Keith – the remote,” said Malone.

“The room was dark but I can’t see how you would mistake it for a weapon.’ She added: ‘I just remember a bang like an earthquake and seeing police pointing guns at Keith. I’ve never even seen one before. It was just horrendous.”

After they were both taken into police custody, they were questioned and their house searched by police.

After finding nothing, they were both released. Abrahams claims he was left to make his way home dressed only in a vest and boxer shorts according to Metro.

The Daily Mail reported Abrahams’ saying: “It was pretty humiliating. They took Michelle home but I had to walk back wearing a vest and boxer shorts.”

The couple has demanded an apology from West Midlands Ambulance Services, and police are investigating the complaints filed by the couple.
