Comedian Greg Giraldo critical, stable after accidental drug overdose

Stand-up comedian Greg Giraldo, who you may know from Comedy Central roasts, appearances on Last Comic Standing, or visits to the Howard Stern Show, is in critical but stable condition at a New Jersey hospital after accidentally overdosing on prescription medications over the weekend.

Giraldo was found unconscious by a friend after he reportedly mixed the medications. Sources did not disclose what drugs the comedian overdosed on, but stress that the incident was not a suicide attempt. A source at the company that professionally manages Giraldo told the New York Post that the comic in critical condition, but did not elaborate on the circumstances of the overdose:

“It was an accidental overdose, and he is in critical condiction,” said the source at the comedian’s management company, The Collective.

It appears that the comic OD’d on prescription pills, the source said.

Giraldo, who worked as a lawyer prior to becoming a comedian, performed at a club in New Jersey the night of the incident. He was rushed to a hospital in New Brunswick, where he is currently being treated.
