Mitch Mitchell, the last member of the Jimi Hendrix Experience dead

Mitch Mitchell, drummer for the Jimi Hendrix Experience was found dead in his hotel room Wednesday. He was 61.

Mitchell played drums on the Jimi Hendrix albums Are You Experienced?, Electric Ladyland and Axis: Bold As Love. Of late, he had been drumming for the Experience Hendrix Tour.

Mitchell was found dead in Portland’s Benson Hotel. The medical examiner first on the scene has said that Mitchell apparently died of natural causes, although an autopsy is planned.

Jimi Hendrix died in 1970 and bass player Noel Redding died in 2003.
