First Look At ‘Dead Man Down’: Colin Farrell, Noomi Rapace, Terrence Howard [Video]

The tag of the first international trailer for Dead Man Down reads “Blood demands blood,” but from the look of this two and a half minute clip — this is no slash and gore affair.

It’s about revenge. The kind that waits.

Dead Man Down reunites Danish director Niels Arden Oplev with the star of his groundbreaking Swedish film The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Noomi Rapace.

Also on board are Colin Farrell, Terrence Howard, Isabelle Huppert, Armand Assante, and Dominic Cooper.

Nutshelled, the plot sees Colin Farrell positioned as the right hand man/fixer for a New York City underground crime boss, Terrence Howard.

But Farrell has an agenda. He wants to avenge the death of his wife and daughter, both of which were somehow caused by Howard.

Rapace’s role is introduced quickly in the trailer.

“Revenge, I’ve never thought about it before,” she says. “But when I saw you, I knew I had my answer.”

First seducing, then blackmailing Farrell, Rapace — a former crime victim of Howard — sets about fulfilling her own vengeful arc.

From this initial look, Oplev and Rapace’s involvement augurs well. Hopefully, Howard, Farrell, and the rest of the cast will match the intensity that duo brings to the table.

The film’s premise is mean and lean, and despite the intrusive soundtrack — “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” by Kendra Morris — promises to hit hard.

Penned by J.H. Wyman who co-produces with Neal H. Moritz, FilmDistrict is set to release Dead Man Down in theaters on March 8, 2013.
