Taylor Swift’s Breakup Plans: Writing New Music And Hanging With The Squad

For the most part, Taylor Swift has been laying low amid her extended hiatus from making music. The singer has been back in the studio making new music for her forthcoming sixth album, according to her friends Gigi Hadid and Martha Hunt. In the meantime, the singer has been spending a lot of downtime with her friends and family.

The singer-songwriter has been keeping herself busy despite experiencing two breakups this year. It’s a good thing that Swift has her squad and family. The “Out of the Woods” singer was all smiles when she spent some time with her mother Andrea when they headed out to the movies in Hollywood, according to the Daily Mail. They weren’t the only ones there, however; her friends were also there during their outing following the private screening.

Swift was photographed wearing a black plaid shirt, black skinny jeans, and her signature red lipstick. She managed to keep a low profile and kept her head down when she was spotted with her family and friends. Swift had a big smile on her face and appeared to be enjoying herself on their night out. This comes after the reports that she’s writing breakup songs about her exes Calvin Harris and Tom Hiddleston.

The former country music star is exploring a new urban sound on her next album, according to a new report via The Sun. Swift has enlisted the help of her friend Drake, who she was linked to back in October.

“Taylor is always looking at ways to grow as an artist and really wants to try something different and unexpected for the next album. She’s not afraid of experimenting so is working with a lot of different faces to see if she suits a new sound.”

The source told the British newspaper that Swift is still riding high off the success of her single “Bad Blood,” including the remix featuring rapper Kendrick Lamar. Since the track had less of a pop vibe than the rest of the songs on her 2014 release, 1989, she has decided that she wants to go in that direction on her new album. That’s the reason why Swift and Drake have been getting close in recent weeks.

“Drake has been her friend for a while and it seemed like a no-brainer that she would spend time in the studio with him. As well as writing with Taylor, he’s producing a few tracks and even lent his vocals to one song. It’s a real mix of edgier hip-hop and R&B sounds.”

While Swift’s sixth studio album may be her edgiest yet, it will still include some breakup songs. She has plenty of inspiration from her relationships with both Harris, 32, and Hiddleston, 35, another source told E! News. But it’s also likely that these tracks won’t make the final album. As much as fans would like to see Swift call out her exes on her album, the source revealed that she’s been cordial with both the Thor actor and the Scottish DJ (whose real name is Adam Wiles), and the lyrics have reflected that.

“[Taylor] has spoken to Adam on text,” the source said, adding that their conversations are less about “getting back together” and “more of a friendly check-in.” The source also added that Swift “is on good terms” with Hiddleston. E! News previously reported that Swift is working with Drake in the recording studio. The two artists are collaborating on a song that’s “different” but has a “very catchy” sound.

“They’ve both been having a great time in the studio,” the source added.

Fans previously assumed that Swift would return to her country roots since she wrote the song “Better Man” for Little Big Town. In addition, she made a surprise appearance at the 2016 CMAs. Little Big Town told Billboard what direction Swift is taking on her next album.

“Taylor is just musical. I don’t think she’s defined by anything other than she is a songwriter and an unbelievable performer and entertainer and incredible businesswoman,” guitarist and singer Philip Sweet told the publication, according to Teen Vogue. “She is all things music, and we have known her for a long time and when she sent us this song we loved it instantly and just the fact that she wrote it is special too. It’s fun to draw attention to just her songwriting. She is an incredible songwriter and we are the beneficiaries of that right now.”
