Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie Divorce Update: He Steps Out With Julia Roberts Amid Custody Battle

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie may be entangled in a dramatic divorce and custody battle, but on Monday night, the 52-year-old actor stepped out for the first time since their split.

As he and Angelina Jolie continue to feud over the custody of their six kids, Brad Pitt stepped out in Los Angeles with longtime friend Julia Roberts for a private screening of the upcoming film Moonlight, which lists his production company, Plan B, as one of its executive producers.

On November 8, E! News spoke of Pitt’s outing, revealing he and Robert were seen hugging and smiling for several photos prior to the event.

Pitt’s outing with Roberts came just hours after a rep for Angelina Jolie claimed the estranged couple had reached a custody agreement for their kids.

“We can confirm that childcare professionals have encouraged a legal agreement accepted and signed by both sides over a week ago,” a rep for Angelina Jolie told People Magazine earlier this week. “In accordance with this agreement, the six children will stay in their mother’s custody, and the children will continue therapeutic visits with their father. This has been determined by childcare professionals to be in the children’s best interest.”

“We are not in a position to discuss the details. We hope now that it is clear that the events which led to the dissolution filing involved minor children and their wellbeing, there will be understanding of the sensitivity of the family situation,” the rep’s statement continued. “We believe that all sides are committed to healing the family and ask for your consideration during this difficult time.”

Following the rep’s statement, sources close to Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s situation claimed the agreement the rep was speaking of was not a permanent agreement but rather an extension of their temporary custody agreement, which was made after the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services launched a child abuse investigation against the actor.

Another source noted the agreement as an independent step towards a more permanent situation.

Angelina Jolie filed for divorce on September 19 and requested she be granted full physical custody of her and Pitt’s six children, Maddox Jolie-Pitt, 15, Pax Jolie-Pitt, 12, Zahara Jolie-Pitt, 11, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, 10, and twins Knox Jolie-Pitt and Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, eight. In response to his estranged wife’s filing, Pitt filed documents of his own in which he requested he be given joint legal and physical custody of their kids.

As fans of the couple will recall, Pitt was accused of getting physical with his and Angelina Jolie’s oldest son, Maddox, during a flight from France to Los Angeles. As New York Magazine revealed in September, Maddox reportedly jumped in the middle of a dispute between Angelina Jolie and the actor when Pitt connected with Maddox in some way.

At the time of the alleged fight, Pitt was said to have been intoxicated and, as TMZ revealed on September 20, one day after Angelina Jolie’s divorce filing, sources close to the situation claimed Pitt’s alleged use of marijuana and alcohol was concerning for the actress.

“[Angelina Jolie]’s decision to file has to do with the way Brad was parenting the children… she was extremely upset with his methods,” the outlet revealed to readers, adding that Jolie became “fed up” with her now-estranged husband’s consumption of weed and possibly alcohol.

Following her filing, Angelina Jolie’s entertainment attorney Robert Offer said she made the decision to file for divorce from Brad Pitt “for the health of the family.”
