‘Fear The Walking Dead’ ‘Passage,’ Episode 2: The Fearsome Sierra Is Introduced

Fear the Walking Dead’s new web series, Passage, has dropped its second episode. Already the story is building and a fearsome new character is introduced.

Last year AMC introduced a new character to Fear the Walking Dead via a web series that played during Season 6 of The Walking Dead. Flight 462 ran in short increments and by the end of series, Alex (Michelle Ang) was introduced in Season 2 of Fear. Following on from the success of Flight 462 (which received two Emmy nominations this year), AMC have released a new web series for Fear the Walking Dead. As yet, it is unclear if Fear the Walking Dead: Passage will help introduce a new character to Season 3 of Fear.

Passage will screen over 16 one-minute installments and will feature during Season 7 episodes of The Walking Dead, which premiered on Sunday Night.

According to the press release, the synopsis for Passage follows.

“The second season of webisodes follows a fearsome survivor, Sierra (Kelsey Scott), who agrees to help an injured woman, Gabi (Mishel Prada), in exchange for an apocalyptic sanctuary. Over the course of their harrowing journey, the women go on to face many dangers and learn what they need to survive. “

The first installment of Passage dropped prior to the Season 7 premiere of The Walking Dead. The second installment was released to coincide with Episode 1.

This episode of Passage expands on the character introduced in the first episode, Gabi (Mishel Prada), who was seen sneaking around a military compound. A man in a bio-hazard suit appeared to be searching for her.

The second installment of Passage has introduced a new character who is likely Sierra (Kelsey Scott) from the above synopsis. Sierra confronts Gabi and asks why she is following her. Gabi, it turns out, is not as fearsome as Sierra in regards to the infected and wants to join up with Sierra in an effort to stay protected, as she is not confident in killing them. Sierra is not impressed with a tag-along and seems more concerned about Gabi’s injury, demanding to know what sort of injury she has. Gabi insists she has only sprained her ankle and that she hasn’t been bitten.

There are a couple of interesting things to note. Firstly, Sierra takes out an infected person in a bio-hazard suit. Could this be the same man seen in the first installment of Passage? If so, it would mean that man has died and reanimated between the two episodes of Fear the Walking Dead: Passage, indicating a time jump.

Sierra is also wearing a partial bio-hazard suit. So, this could indicate she was a member of the base before it fell. Alternatively, she had arrived there after the base fell and donned a suit for protection from the infected.

Passage is produced by Dave Erickson, who is also the showrunner for Fear the Walking Dead. Andrew Bernstein is listed as director and producer. Passage is written by Lauren Signorino and Mike Zunic.

Joel Stillerman, president of original programming and development for AMC and SundanceTV, released the following statement about Passage.

“We saw a tremendous response to last year’s Flight 462 so we are excited to again be expanding the world of Fear with another story of survival at the onset of the apocalypse. It’s great to be working with Dave Erickson and the Fear team on this new piece of original short-form content that will continue to engage fans in the series’ off-season.”
