Soula Boy Was Fired From ‘Love & Hip Hop Hollywood,’ Rapper Did Not Quit, And Reason Has Nothing To Do With His Brand

It turns out that Soulja Boy didn’t quit Love & Hip Hop Hollywood. While the “Crank That” rapper reported that he left the show on his own, there are conflicting reports that he was actually fired. Add a cryptic Instagram message posted by executive producer Mona Scott-Young and it looks like the rapper, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way, is gone, but it wasn’t his choice at all.

Earlier this week, Soulja Boy shocked fans when he revealed in a series of tweets that he was quitting LHHH. He claimed that the show was “too ratchet” and that it wasn’t good for his brand. He even said that he’d be back on TV again soon, but didn’t give any details as to where or when. It turns out that there is a lot more to this story.

Not long after Soulja Boy tweeted that he had quit Love & Hip Hop Hollywood, Mona Scott-Young reposted a meme that said, “If I ever get fired, I’m gone tell everybody I quit to protect my brand.” The timing and the message of the meme made it clear that it was directed at the news that Soulja Boy quit LHHH.

It didn’t take long for confirmation that Soulja Boy was fired, according to The Jasmine Brand. It turns out that their source confirmed the firing and said it was directly related to the feud he had with Nia Riley right before Season 3 of Love & Hip Hop Hollywood began.

Back in August, Soulja Boy and Nia Riley went back and forth on social media, with Soulja calling his ex-girlfriend some pretty vulgar names and demanded she takes off a pair of shoes he claimed to have bought her. The drama really heated up when Soulja believed that Nia was dating another rapper who goes by Skill Dilly. It was after that when the rapper-turned-reality-star posted a video where he pointed a gun and threatened both Skrill and Nia.

“Soulja Boy didn’t quit. He was fired after he threatened Nia (Riley) on social media, pulling out a gun,” a source told The Jasmine Brand. “That was the last straw. What he did was irresponsible, dangerous and producers considered that a threat. His behavior got him fired.”

It’s nothing new for the Love & Hip Hop drama to get really crazy sometimes and even go off-set. In this case, though, because weapons were used to threaten another cast member, producers of the VH1 reality show decided that Soulja Boy had gone too far.

To make matters even messier, Soulja Boy reportedly responded to The Jasmine Brand after they said he was fired. In a statement to the gossip site, he wrote, “Left the show; it was too ratchet. Now Mona is saying I was fired, but I never received a notice that I was not part of the show anymore until after I said I quit on twitter. I have my own show coming soon with all my celeb friends that’s going to be huge. It was just too much drama and violence on that show. I have to protect my brand.”

Soulja Boy followed up that claim with a picture of a card he received from the Love & Hip Hop Hollywood producers. He said, “I got fired? But she sent me this for season 4. So who’s lying?”

The inside of the card reads, “Congratulations! Let’s toast to another successful season…XXOO, Mona Maia, Stefan, and Toby.” It should be noted that there is nothing to indicate when the card was received or what season they were talking about. Soulja Boy claims they are talking about Season 4.

It will be interesting to see if Mona Scott-Young or someone else from Love & Hip Hop Hollywood production responds to Soulja Boy’s claims that someone is lying about him being fired.
