Zara Larsson Drops ‘It Ain’t My Fault,’ Performs ‘Lush Life’ On Jimmy Fallon

Swedish singer and songwriter Zara Larsson is making her mark in the U.S. She just dropped a new song and performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Zara Larsson just dropped her new single titled “Ain’t My Fault” on Friday, September 2. The pop star achieved major success in her native homeland after winning Sweden’s Got Talent back in 2008, and now she wants to rule the work, reports Radio.

“My dream is to stand in front of 60,000 people in an arena and know that everyone came because they wanted to make memories with me,” she said in a recent interview. “That’s a beautiful thing. The more successful you are, the more people are going to come and be a part of music.”

The singer behind her hit songs “Never Forget You” and “Lush Life” is going in a new direction. On the track, Larsson sings about being unashamed that she’s the other woman. Larsson hinted behind the meaning of the song in an interview earlier this year.

“The topic is me talking to a girl about her man, and I basically stole her man,” Larsson said. “And I’m like, ‘It’s not my fault that I’m better than you’ … I don’t know why we wrote it because I would never say something like that to a girl! No! We’re supposed to [be a] team.”

In the interview, she revealed that she teamed up with British producer and collaborator MNEK on the new song, which is the lead single from Larsson’s upcoming international debut album, reports Entertainment Weekly. Larsson released her album in Sweden back in 2014 and then included some of the tracks on her U.S. EP, Uncover.

“Pop is everything from The Weeknd to Taylor Swift to Beyonce to Rihanna, [and my album is] a good mix of everything,” Larsson revealed to EW earlier in the year. “There are some very soulful songs on there, but also electric dance songs, and also pure pop, darker songs with a trap vibe.”

Earlier on in the week, Larsson performed “Lush Life” on last night’s performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Larsson’s performance on the late-night show is similar to the second music video for “Lush Life,” which features backup dancers and flower-shaped spotlights, notes Spin.

Thursday night’s episode also included appearances from Michael Phelps and Harry Connick, Jr., both of who were interviewed, according to Headline Planet. Phelps then joined Fallon for a fun game of Egg Russian Roulette.

Larsson first made headlines last year when she shared a photo of herself wearing a condom on her leg to prove to lie that some guys’ penises are too big to wear a condom. To prove her point, the then 17-year-old wore a latex condom up her leg without breaking it, according to MTV.

“To all the guys saying ‘my dick is too big for condoms’ TAKE A SEAT,” she wrote.

After the photo went viral and Larsson was hailed as a feminist, she wanted to address the reason behind her post.

“I, personally, do not consider myself to be some kind of Holy Mary of feminism,” she wrote on her website. “It’s kind of just been so for unknown reasons. I am fully aware that there are many, many girls who are better than me at this so extremely many ways and who receive little attention.”
