‘Forza Horizon 3’ Rumbles With ‘Halo’ Warthog, PC Specs Revealed As Game Goes Gold

Turn 10 Studios and Microsoft announced Forza Horizon 3 went gold Tuesday for Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs. Additionally, the racer is adding a very special guest to its livery of cars. The Warthog from the Halo franchise is barreling in sans turret. PC owners should also set their expectations on what kind of hardware they will need for the festival racing title.

Forza Horizon 3 will launch on September 27 with Ultimate Edition owners able to jump out of the starting blocks early on Friday, September 23. Those that have played either Halo 5: Guardians or Halo: The Master Chief Collection on the Xbox One will also receive a free code via an Xbox LIVE message to download the Warthog starting September 5. Individuals who have not played either title will have a chance to earn the rugged vehicle in a special “#Forzathon” event planned for October.

The official description of Forza Horizon 3‘s Warthog was shared on Xbox Wire by Turn 10 Studio Community Manager Brian Ekberg.

“The 2554 AMG Transport Dynamics M12S Warthog CST is a civilian transport alternative to its militaristic cousin, the M12 Force Application Vehicle. What it may lack in brute force – you won’t find a turret on this version – it more than makes up for with its 720 bhp twin turbo V8, making it significantly faster than its FAV counterpart. The Warthog CST in Forza Horizon 3 is also ideally suited for the rough and tumble landscape of Australia. With the most advanced suspension in Forza Horizon 3 (with more than 70 cm of suspension travel), plus advanced dampening, you won’t find the combination of power and stability like this anywhere else in the Horizon Festival.”

Meanwhile, Turn 10 Studios shared the recommended PC specs needed to run Forza Horizon 3 via the studio’s official website. The provided specs will are for running the game at 1080p. Specs needed for 4K resolutions have not been shared yet, but expect a GPU bump to the Nvidia GTX 1080 along with an SSD hard drive based on past experience.

“Forza Horizon 3 players will have a tremendous amount of adjustment options when playing on Windows 10,” Eckberg added on Xbox Wire. “From basic options like full screen, vertical sync and resolution, to more advanced adjustments like quality settings for motion blur, mirrors, reflection, static and dynamic geometry, we’re giving Windows 10 players the power to play the way they want. Whether playing on the recommended specs or pushing the hardware limits to deliver the ultimate 4K racing experience, Forza Horizon 3 players will have lots of options for making the most of their experience.”

A digital purchase of Forza Horizon 3 from the Xbox Store and Windows Store will give buyers access to the game on both platforms.
