‘The Walking Dead’ Season 7: Negan To Have Some Ownership Over What ‘TWD’ Is About, EP Teases [Spoilers]

Negan is different than other villains on The Walking Dead. In Season 7, don’t expect Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s character to get killed off like Gareth from Terminus or Woodbury’s “The Governor.” Instead, Negan will be sticking around awhile. According to a new TWD spoiler report, the show won’t just be about Rick Grimes anymore. Andrew Lincoln’s character and Negan will share the spotlight. It was also teased that the new character will have some ownership over what the entire show is about.

The Walking Dead Season 7 spoilers are ahead. If you do not want to know what is coming next, then stop reading.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, in Robert Kirkman’s comic books, Negan is still around long after the battle between the Saviors, Hilltop Colony, Alexandria, and the Kingdom. It sounds like the television show is headed in the same direction, with Negan staying on board. Not only will Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s character be around for quite a while, he will be a central part of the show and will share the spotlight with Rick Grimes.

Executive producer Greg Nicotero spoke to Deadline about The Walking Dead Season 7, including Rick and Negan.

“I mean, it’s really, Rick is now, if you really think about his journey in the comic books, he shares the spotlight with Negan in the comic book. Negan now has some ownership over what the show is about. It’s the anticipation and the excitement of new worlds that we’re going to, like the Hilltop, like the Kingdom, like the Sanctuary where Negan lives.”

In The Walking Dead comic books, Rick tries to kill Negan but fails. That is when he is taken prisoner, but he doesn’t stay caged up for long. He always manages to find a way out of his “cell” and enjoys taunting Rick. Several issues later, Negan is still very much a part of the story. It definitely sounds like Negan will be sticking around for more than one or two seasons. He may be a major character for longer than that, if fan predictions are correct.

Additionally, Robert Kirkman, creator of The Walking Dead, spoke to Screen Rant. What fans saw on the season finale was just a taste of what is coming in nearly every episode in Season 7.

“He’s going to be this ever-present threat in the show from now on. This amazing 12 minutes that we got in Season 6 is going to be nearly every episode now for a while moving forward. We’re going to be expanding the world at the same time. So we’re going to have this huge catalyst, these saviors, this Negan guy walking around doing all kinds of horrible stuff.”

In the interview, the TWD creator also teased that walkers will be used in more interesting ways. Also, expect to see a lot of new characters while Negan is doing terrible things to Rick’s group and other survivors.

Other spoilers for The Walking Dead Season 7 include the characters and viewers losing someone they really care about. It isn’t known who Negan kills on TWD, but it is going to be someone that was loved by many. Also, look forward to meeting Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and his pet tiger, Shiva. The duo were seen briefly when the official trailer was released at Comic-Con 2016.

What do you think of what Greg Nicotero and Robert Kirkman had to say about Season 7? What do you believe will happen when Negan and Rick Grimes share the spotlight? Will chaos continue even after the battle with the Saviors is over? Fans won’t have to wait too much longer to find out. The Walking Dead premieres October 23 on AMC.
