‘Vikings’ Season 4 Return: New Image Of Ragnar And Floki Revealed, Will Floki Follow Ragnar Back To England?
According to the show’s creator, Michael Hirst, Ragnar and Floki’s relationship will be explored more in the Season 4 return of Vikings. A new image also released shows Ragnar and Floki side by side in a pivotal scene.

Floki and Ragnar’s relationship has been a constant through all seasons of Vikings, however, it has certainly had its ups and downs. While Floki has always admitted his love for Ragnar, Ragnar has not always reciprocated. At times, he has even manipulated that devotion to his own gain in Vikings. The show’s creator, Michael Hirst, revealed to Entertainment Weekly that the newly revealed image below captures the moment when Ragnar reveals to Floki his true feelings for his old friend.
“In this scene, Ragnar says to Floki, ‘I love you.’ Even now, I’m welling up slightly. It’s a huge moment. Floki cannot believe it. That is something that comes out of the blue, slightly, but it’s what Floki has wanted to hear most of his life.”
However, will Ragnar’s declaration of affection be enough to get Floki to return to England with him?
We know from the Season 4 mid-season finale that Floki will be heading to the Mediterranean with Ragnar’s son, Bjorn Ironside (Alexander Ludwig), at some point, so does this mean that Floki will turn down Ragnar and head off with Bjorn? Perhaps, or maybe the Season 4 return of Vikings will see Floki and Bjorn help Ragnar, leaving the Mediterranean plans until Season 5 of Vikings.
What we do know for sure though is that Season 4 of Vikings will bring about dramatic changes for Floki, regardless of whether he follows Ragnar or not, according to Michael Hirst.
“Floki is now going through very deep and profound changes, and reevaluating his life, his relationships, and this will continue. This is a very big thread in the story moving forward. I can’t exaggerate how big these changes will be. It’s Floki having to reimagine his whole life, who he is, what he’s here for. It will lead to quite extraordinary outcomes.”
Another person Ragnar will visit in the Season 4 return of Vikings is his ex-wife, Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick). This is when he will discover Lagertha’s new love interest, Astrid. However, it is unclear yet if Lagertha will follow Ragnar back to England. Although, according to the Viking sagas the show is based on, Lagertha is convinced to return to battle with Ragnar because she is still in love with him. While, in the sagas this happened before she killed her husband to claim Earldom for herself, Hirst may have tampered a little with the timeline of events to make this work. The trailer for the Season 4 return of Vikings released at San Diego Comic-Con shows Lagertha confronting Ragnar’s current wife, Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland).
“I will never forgive you for taking away my husband, my world, and my happiness,” Lagertha says to Aslaug in the video clip.
So there is some acknowledgement there that Lagertha might still have feelings for her ex-husband. If this is the case, it seems likely Lagertha will join Ragnar in confronting King Ecbert in the Season 4 return of Vikings.
