‘James Bond’ Movie Update: Theo James Failed The Audition?
Divergent star, Theo James is now not in the race to get cast as Bond in the next James Bond film.
There were earlier speculations on who would play the lead role in the upcoming James Bond film if Daniel Craig decided to quit the franchise. Around that time, several names of potential actors surfaced online that might get the chance to play the iconic role including Idris Alba, Nicholas Hoult and Theo James. But, now, Heat Street reported that James has not passed the audition.
The outlet further revealed that along with James, Turn star Jamie Bell also auditioned for the part but even his audition did not impress anyone. The alleged sources revealed to the outlet that Barbara Broccoli has signed Bell for another film, but when it came to the Bond film, Bell failed to impress everyone.
“Theo James impressed Eon by conveying a Bond aura with his Hugo Boss adverts but this didn’t translate into the audition and he’s now out of contention.”
Although one thing can be noted here, there is still no talk on future distributors for the Bond film, there is no official director announcement from the studio, so, in this case, the talk about screen tests and auditions does sound a little fishy. So, it looks like the report from Heat Street is nothing but a marketing stunt to boost one of the contender’s profile.
It does look like the reports from the online outlet are nothing but speculations as there is no solid proof behind their claims.
In other news, James and his long time fiance Ruth Kearney’s wedding is on hold as the star has been preparing himself for the role of Bond. According to Master Herald, the delay in their marriage is because the actor has been pointed out as one of those potential actors who could replace Craig in the upcoming James Bond movie series. The publication further claimed that if the Ascendent star did take up the role in the spy-thriller film, then he will be not able to give his time to Kearney.
So the couple has decided to put their wedding on hold until they get an official confirmation.
At the same time there are also speculations that the wedding had been put on hold due to the star’s closeness with his co-star Shailene Woodley. According to Fashion & Style, a source close to the movie confirmed that the duo had been dating before they both agreed to play their respective roles in the Divergent series.
“They were holding hands and they even shared dessert. When they were waiting for the bill, James leaned in for a kiss and they seemed very passionate towards each other,” said the source.
Contrary to this, the British actor told Dazed Digital that his onscreen chemistry with Woodley does not mean that they are having an affair in real life.
“By that time we had bridged the boundary and the friendship gap and she knew how weird I was and I knew how weird she was. You’re feeling each other out and what boundaries you can push and what ones you can’t. But yeah she definitely understands what a weirdo I am.”
There is no official confirmation whether Craig is officially leaving the James Bond franchise or that the studio wants him to get replaced by a young actor. Whatever the case is, the news about Theo James failing the screen tests seems a little far off.
