Michael Fassbender’s Girlfriend Alicia Vikander Invited To Oscars Committee

Michael Fassbender has been making movies for much longer than his girlfriend, Alicia Vikander. But she has had a much quicker climb to acclaim, winning an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in The Danish Girl this year. And now, she has been invited to become one of the members of Oscars committee at the age of 27. Let’s hope that the Assassin’s Creed actor isn’t getting jealous.

“As part of its effort to increase diversity among its ranks, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Wednesday issued a record 683 invitations to new members — from rising stars like Star Wars’ John Boyega and Harry Potter’s Emma Watson to musicians like Mary J. Blige and Will.i.am,” reports the Hollywood Reporter. “The new invitees are heavily weighted to favor women (46 percent) and people of color (41 percent). If all elect to join, it will begin to shift the demographic makeup of the Academy, which has been criticized in the past for being too old, too male and too white.”

Alicia Vikander was one of the women to receive the invitation, which makes her eligible to vote for next year’s Oscars. That is a significant power for her to have, knowing that she just became the darling of Hollywood.

But Michael Fassbender is getting inducted at another prestigious community as well. Although this has no weight in Hollywood, it is an honor nonetheless for the German-Irish actor.

“Hollywood actor Michael Fassbender is to be honoured in Killarney, Co Kerry for his achievements in the film industry,” reports the Irish Times. “The Irish performer will be inducted to the Order of Innisfallen, which recognises contributions made to the area’s economy by people from outside Killarney.”

Prestige, honor, and Oscars aside, Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander are still working hard in their careers, shooting movies and snagging gigs left and right. The 39-year-old actor is busy shooting Alien Covenant in Australia right now, and the 27-year-old Swede is about to land her next important role in Hollywood.

“Though Sony is courting Alicia Vikander and Paramount is eyeing Emma Stone, the two studios require approval from the Christie estate before receiving a green light,” reports the Hollywood Reporter.

If the Oscar winner wins the role of Agatha Christie over Emma Stone, the Oscar winner will become more mainstream in Hollywood, making her more palatable to big studios as well as money-making summer blockbusters.

The couple most recently reunited in Sydney, where he was filming Alien Covenant, and had a ball together.

“Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender appeared to be just as much in the honeymoon period as they enjoyed a workout session together on Friday at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia,” reports the Daily Mail. “The pair were joined by a trainer, who put them through their paces with an array of taxing exercises as they worked up a sweat in the sunshine.”

When they weren’t working out, they were bowling, grabbing lunch, and doing all the traditional new-couple things that they cannot do because of their long distance relationship.

Although they seem to be doing great, the 39-year-old actor is very reluctant to speak about it in public.

“They’ve never so much as uttered a word to confirm or deny the status of their relationship publicly,” reports the Daily Mail. “But perhaps it was simply a happy coincidence that Michael Fassbender and his rumoured girlfriend Alicia Vikander happened to be in the same place at the same time on Saturday. The notoriously private Irishman, 39, and his The Light Between Oceans co-star, 27, were spotted leaving Darling Harbour’s Kingpin Bowling in Sydney after playing a few games.”
