‘The Originals’ Season 4: Will Klaus Mikaelson Return More ‘Monstrous’? [Spoilers]

The Originals Season 4 does not have a premiere date. Despite being temporarily benched, there are still spoilers and theories regarding Klaus Mikaelson. One question viewers have is if Klaus will return more “monstrous” than before.

Warning: Possible spoilers for The Originals Season 4 are ahead.

Fans were excited to find out the premiere date for The Originals Season 4. However, the anticipation turned to confusion and worry once The CW released its fall 2016 schedule.

Although it was renewed, The Vampire Diaries spin-off was not included in the lineup. It was not the only TV show that was missing. As Dread Central noted, other shows that are being held back include The 100, iZombie, and Riverdale.

There is no reason to be concerned. The Originals was not canceled, but was temporarily benched for scheduling reasons. The president of The CW stands by its decision. Now that fans know Klaus Mikaelson and his siblings will definitely return, what can be expected from the supernatural family?

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Klaus Mikaelson will return. He may be in a pain-induced coma and enclosed in a tomb, but the vampire will be back in Season 4 of The Originals. However, what will Klaus be like when he wakes up?

One theory is that Klaus will return to The CW series even more “monstrous” than before. He has always been unapologetically vicious and wanted to be feared. However, during the Season 3 finale, Klaus went “on trial” for his past behavior and what he put others through.

Even though there is a chance that the Mikaelson sibling could emerge from the coma a nicer man, that is not likely. It is quite possible that fans will see Klaus angry and out for vengeance when he returns in The Originals Season 4.

Previously, executive producer Michael Narducci spoke about the season finale and what to expect when the show returns. He specifically mentioned Klaus Mikaelson.

“Elijah and Kol and Rebekah have all been daggered by Klaus, so he is benefited by putting them to sleep and putting them in a kind of time-out, and now they are relying on one of those time-outs, which will force him to be put down and to suffer greatly and to be alone and to be not with his family,” Michael Narducci told Entertainment Weekly. “One of the things that’s at the core of Klaus’ being is his desire to be with his family. Now, going into our hiatus, Klaus is alone, and it’s terrible. It’s the ultimate sacrifice, and it’s something I don’t think Klaus Mikaelson may have been capable of prior to the person we’ve started to show him to be on our series.”

For Klaus, being alone and without his family is the worst thing that could happen. Even though he made a huge sacrifice for the Mikaelson family, the vampire will not be happy when he wakes up.

“But now he’s going to be suffering unendurable agony for who knows how long,” Narducci continued, “and when we see him again, will that choice to be selfless, which resulted in so much pain and agony and solitude — the thing that he fears most — will that actually make him even more of a monster? And remember, he won’t have Cami to help him. That’s going to be one of the great things to play.”

The executive producer did not say for certain that Klaus would return to the worst form of himself. However, Narducci did state that it is a possibility.
