Teairra Mari Legal Trouble: Bench Warrant Issued For ‘Love & Hip Hop Hollywood’ Star

Even reality stars need to show up to court. A bench warrant was issued for Love & Hip Hop Hollywood star Teairra Mari after she failed to show up for a court date. Ray J’s former girlfriend was supposed to face the judge about charges that she assaulted an Uber driver last year before stealing his phone charger.

Teairra Mari was due in court on Monday, June 13, in Los Angeles but was a no show. Her absence in the midst of this ongoing legal trouble might cause even more problems for the Love & Hip Hop Hollywood star. Not to mention that this isn’t her first brush with the law, and she is known for having some pretty violent outbursts like the one with the Uber driver in 2015. According to reports, Teairra’s court date was moved to Tuesday but whether she showed up or not has not been released.

According to BET, if Teairra Mari needs to turn herself in and stand trial for the alleged Uber driver assault in which she is accused of beating her driver before taking off with his phone charger. If she doesn’t turn herself in, the LHHH star risks being arrested if she is seen in public. It looks like Teairra isn’t ignoring the charges against her and possibly didn’t even mean to miss her day in court. Instead, the VH1 star claims that she simply wrote the time down wrong and didn’t mean to miss the crucial hearing.

The Love & Hip Hop Hollywood star reportedly freaked out on her driver and started to punch him before snatching his iPhone charger. The driver pulled over and ordered Teairra Mari out of his car and when she refused to get out, he called the police. Teairra allegedly kept the cell phone charger when she left the huge scene she had just made.

Teairra claims that she never beat her Uber driver. Instead, she claims that the man was incredibly rude to her and refusing her request to use his iPhone charger was just the tip of the iceberg. Teairra Mari was charged with battery and theft when police arrived on the scene and found the man’s cell phone charger in her purse.

According to Bossip back in March, Teairra Mari was offered a plea deal that would have saved her from having to spend any time in jail in the case of the assaulted Uber driver. The singer turned reality star chose not to accept the plea deal and took her case to trial instead after continuing to maintain her innocence. If convicted of the charges of assault and battery, theft, and vandalism, Teairra could spend up to six months in jail and be ordered to pay a $1,000 fine.

Teairra Mari’s lawyer Steven Szocs seems pretty confident that he should be able to get his client off the hook. He claims that the Uber driver has a history of criminal activity and has even used false names in several of his past arrests. Now Love & Hip Hop Hollywood fans are left to wonder if any of that information will even matter after Teairra skipped out on her court date with a flimsy excuse like she had the wrong time.

Teairra Mari began her rise to fame when she was signed to Def Jam Records along with the superstar Rihanna. Teairra was even expected to become a much bigger star than Rihanna and some think that Beyonce got in that way of that deal and effectively ended her career in order to help Rihanna to rise up. She gained more notoriety when Teairra signed on to the premiere season of Love & Hip Hop Hollywood. She spent much of her time on the show entangled in a huge beef with Ray J’s current fiancée Princess Love.
